About

Barry Curran once wrote longhand slumped in a soft chair with a hand as a headrest. However, since finishing a 260,000 word epic fantasy and consequently discovering wrist cramp and back ache, he has made the switch to ergonomic chairs and keyboards.

He can usually be found typing at the computer during the day with a steaming cup of coffee by his hand and something loud on the speakers. Evenings are either spent watching movies with the cats (Haley & Casper) on the sofa or playing point-and-click adventures with the family.

Whenever there is time, Barry likes to make things, such as sculptures and gaming machines

Born in Drogheda in the northeast of the Republic of Ireland, Barry moved to Cork in the south of the country at the age of 22.

Has a family he’s very proud of and has worked a menagerie of jobs to keep them fed. Fine vocations such as: Sculpture technician, Delivery driver, Stonemason and landscaper, Radio presenter, Audio engineer, Teacher, and Salesman at a glass factory.

Writing was always a part of life, from early comics about a family of skulls, to earnest horror stories, school sports articles for the local paper, angst-ridden songs during that phase, made-up-on-the-spot bedtime tales and finally, ‘serious’ raconteuring
